Pericles primarily handles issues relating to various aspects of intellectual property law, including trademark and patent prosecution before the Philippine Intellectual Property Office, the drafting and negotiation of technology transfer arrangements (TTA) including franchise agreements and trademark licensing agreements, managing the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactions.
Pericles has assisted clients in complying with rights maintenance requirements such as the filing of the declaration of use of a trademark, patent annuity payments and trademark renewal.
Pericles has advised and acted on behalf of several mulitnational companies in handling data security incidents in the Philippines and abroad. He also advises on regulatory issues affecting information technology and telecommunications projects such as those relating to e-commerce, the licensing of telecommunications and value added services, satellite communications and managed network services. He also advises on intellectual property and regulatory issues in the delivery of multimedia content through enhanced telecommunications services, information technology outsourcing and turnkey contracts. Various clients have relied on his experience breach notification compliance and security incident review.
He represents clients in the consumer products, transportation, electronics, liquor, telecommunications, e-commerce, entertainment, financial services, and other industries. He previously headed the Intellectual Property and Information Technology Practice Group of Quisumbing Torres, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International.
