Well-known marks: a new register is open.
Declaration and Register of Well-Known Marks
The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines has established the Rules and Regulations for the Declaration and Creation of the Register of Well-Known Marks. Brand owners can now secure well-known status through a streamlined, non-adversarial administrative process, without the need to prove reputation through costly litigation.
A declaration grants inclusion in the official Register for a renewable ten-year term, securing broader protection against infringement, including across non-competing goods and services.
