Joseph primarily advises clients on intellectual property rights matters from seeking protection of trademarks, copyrights and patents up to their enforcement. He has extensive experience in the field of intellectual property law, having advised and represented clients on intellectual property rights matters for over 9 years as an associate of Quisumbing Torres, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International, before founding Betita Cabilao Casuela Sarmiento in July 2011. He has successfully handled all kinds of infringement cases before various Philippine courts and administrative agencies. He has also successfully represented clients before the WIPO Mediation Center for recovery of domain names.
 
Joseph advises on issues relating to e-commerce, electronic transactions, information security, and privacy. His fields of expertise cover regulations affecting the provision of mass media and telecommunications services including broadcasting, advertising, VoIP, managed network services, Value Added Services and the importation and distribution of telecommunication equipment. He also advises on general corporate and commercial requirements and general consumer laws, including FDA regulatory compliance matters. He serves as director and corporate secretary of several foreign companies doing business in the Philippines.

Joseph is an active committee member of the Enforcement Committee of the International Trademark Association.
